Late this afternoon, Microsoft released Windows 10 build 16232.1004 to Fast Ring Windows Insiders. According to the head of the Windows Insider team, Dona Sakar, there is nothing much new with this build, as the main purpose of it is just to test Microsoft’s servicing pipeline. The installation of this update should also not require a reboot unless you’re running Notepad.exe, so here is all you need to know before you install.
This update should not require you to have to reboot unless you happen to have Notepad.exe open. This update only revs the version of the OS and includes an updated binary version of Notepad.exe and nothing else. It does introduce the following issues to be aware of.
- Make sure you’ve setup Mixed Reality before taking this update.
- After installing a language pack or feature-on-demand like .NET 3.5, your PC may be offered this update again and fail.
This update will only remain available until the next WIP Fast build is released.
So, if you’re running build 16232 you should be seeing this cumulative update now, and up until the next Fast Ring build is released. We wish you well in your downloading and invite you to drop us a comment in the section below to let us know how this latest update is treating you.Further reading: build 16232, Fast Ring, Microsoft, RS3, Windows 10, Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, Windows Insider
