Microsoft releases out of band Surface Pen Driver update for Surface Pro 3

Microsoft has rolled out a new firmware update for Surface Pro 3 owners today, and interestingly enough, this update is out-of-band. Microsoft typically releases firmware updates for the Surface tablet during Patch Tuesday of every month, but this month, we get one firmware update early.

The update is for the Surface Pro 3 and affects the Surface Pen. This is what the release notes state: “Surface Pen Driver (v2.0.1145.0) enables additional upcoming configuration options for Surface Pro 3.”

It is not quite clear exactly what new configuration options are going to be available for Surface Pro 3 owners, but this firmware update is definitely welcome. Head over to Windows Update right now and snag this update. Any guesses as to what these new configuration options are?
