July firmware updates are out for Surface Book 2, 5th gen Surface Pro, Surface Pro 6, and Intel-based Surface Laptop 3

Microsoft has released new firmware updates for all Surface Laptop 3 models with Intel processor, as well as the 5th gen Surface Pro 5, Surface Pro 6, and Surface Book 2 devices (via Neowin). The latest batch of firmware updates primarily focuses on Surface Dock 2 reliability improvements. The new accessory launched back in May, gaining 4 new USB-C ports while keeping two USB-A ports and the proprietary Surface Connect port.

If you own a Surface Book 2 running Windows 10 version 1809 or newer, and here’s what you should be seeing in Windows Update:

  • Surface Dock Firmware Update: 1.83.139.0 Improves Surface Dock 2 reliability during Wake On LAN scenarios and improves the overall stability.
  • Surface Firmware Update: 2.49.139.0 Improves Surface Dock 2 reliability during Wake On LAN scenarios and improves the overall stability.
  • Surface – Extension: 5.5.0.0 Improves Surface Dock 2 reliability during Wake On LAN scenarios and improves the overall stability.
  • Surface Integration Service Device – System: 6.83.139.0 Improves Surface Dock 2 reliability during authentication scenarios.
  • Surface System Aggregator – Firmware: 182.2150.137.0 Improves Battery Smart Charging reliability.

Update: The 5th gen Surface Pro and Surface Pro 6 are also getting some firmware updates today, and you can find the full details below:

  • Surface Dock Firmware Update: 2.49.139.0 improves Surface Dock 2 reliability during Wake On LAN scenarios and improves the overall stability.
  • Surface – Extension – 5.5.0.0 improves Surface Dock 2 reliability during Wake On LAN scenarios and improves the overall stability
  • Surface Integration Service Device – System: 6.83.139.0 Improves Surface Dock 2 reliability during authentication scenarios.

The changelog is a bit longer Intel-powered Surface Laptop 3 PCs running Windows 10 version 1903 or greater. The updates bring a handful of improvements for Bluetooth connectivity, battery life, Surface Dock 2 stability, and performance improvements. Microsoft has also addressed WiFi connectivity issues, and you can get more details in the full release notes below:

  • Surface Integration Service Device – System: 6.83.139.0 Improves Surface Dock 2 reliability during authentication scenarios.
  • Surface Display – Monitors: 3.92.139.0 Improves the device color profile performance.
  • Surface System Aggregator – Firmware: 14.109.139.0 Improves Battery Lifespan Saver reliability.
