Microsoft puts the Surface Pro 3 head to head with the MacBook Air in new ads

When Microsoft announced the Surface Pro 3 they used the phrase, “The tablet that can replace your laptop.” Today, in new video advertisements, Microsoft has targeted the MacBook Air. Currently on YouTube, these three ads address misconceptions about tablets and strengths of the Surface Pro 3.

These ads mainly focus on how the Surface Pro 3 has touch, pen, and a detachable keyboard. Microsoft also reminds consumers that the Surface Pro 3 looks like a tablet, but can have an Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB hard drive. Price is never mentioned when comparing the Surface to the MacBook, which is a small difference in these ads compared to other Surface ads.

The advantages highlighted in these ads may not be attractive for all people, but Microsoft is hoping you will give Surface a second look. Also, comparing their device to the widely popular MacBook Air is a quick and easy way to get the attention of consumers. We’ll see if this pays off for Microsoft.

We’ve embedded all three advertisements for your viewing pleasure below. What do you think? Does Microsoft highlight the proper advantages? Do you like these new ads? Let us know in the comments below!
