Microsoft Launcher 5.2 starts rolling out to all Android users

Beta testers have been using and quality-checking the 5.2 update for some time now. However today, it appears that the beta version is good enough to be released to general users, as spotted by Italian blog Aggiornamenti Lumia.

The Google Play Store still lists the latest version as 5.1.1 from our end, suggesting that the update is likely being delivered to users in a gradual rollout. This would make sense, given how major bugs tend to plague devices right at a major update (remember the Windows 10 October Update debacle?), so a gradual rollout might help them keep an eye just in the small chance something does arise.

For those who didn’t see the last post, version 5.2 contains a number of refinements to improve not just the aesthetics of the app, but also its functionality. Large screen phone users will likely be pleased that non-fullscreen folders (as seen in the screenshot at the top) can be toggled on for ease of use, and long pressing of app icons while the home screen is locked will now bring up the shortcuts menu.

If you’re interested, you can head to the Play Store and see if the update is live for you. If it is, feel free to let us know in the comments how you’re enjoying the update.
