Recently, we reported that Microsoft Launcher, the company’s home screen app that started as a Microsoft Garage project, was being updated to version 5.0 and available to users who signed up to try the beta. Today, the company has made its release official for all users, so everyone should now see the new features starting today.
Perhaps the most important new feature is Timeline, a feature that first came to Windows 10 that syncs previous activities to multiple devices, such as Edge history and Word documents. The feature was introduced as part of the April 2018 Update, and today is being extended to Android thanks to the new update of the launcher on Google Play.
The second most notable change is the UI overhaul of the Glance screen, which in addition to a tab for the new Timeline, also includes a new tab for News. Users can customize the Glance screen with different cards, and can additionally add any of Android’s widgets. The UI can additionally be customized in different colors and sizes, and supports custom icon packs as well.
