Microsoft is experimenting with a new feature that should make it easier to switch between multiple profiles in Edge progressive web apps (PWAs). The company has announced that the profile switcher is enabled by default for Edge Insiders running Windows 10 version 2004 or newer.

The new Chromium-based Edge browser comes with built-in support for Profiles. The feature was introduced back in 2019, and the Microsoft Edge team has been continuously improving it based on user feedback. The company has now added a profile switcher option on the application title bar to enable users to switch between their work or personal profiles right from within the PWA.

To switch between profiles, click the profile icon on the title bar of the application and select the other profile (work or personal) to use. Once clicked, the app will automatically open in another application window with the selected profile.

Keep in mind that users will need to install the same app on more than one profile to see the profile switcher in the title bar. As of this writing, the feature is only supported in the Microsoft Edge Canary and Dev channels, and we hope that the company will roll it out to Beta and Stable in future updates.
