Microsoft 365 has experienced several outages over the past eight months, causing disruptions for its users. These outages have affected various Microsoft 365 services, including Teams, Outlook, OneDrive for Business, and SharePoint.

  1. January: Microsoft experienced an outage, affecting email and Teams access.
  2. February: Another global outage occurred, disrupting email and Teams access.
  3. April (first incident): Users faced issues accessing Microsoft 365 web applications and Teams.
  4. April (second incident): Microsoft investigated a search functionality issue in multiple Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook on the Web, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook desktop clients.
  5. May: The company reported issues with UK users accessing some service offerings under Microsoft 365.
  6. June: Users experienced issues with Outlook Web, Teams, OneDrive for Business, and SharePoint for over eight hours.
  7. July: Exchange Online outage preventing customers from sending emails and triggering 503 errors on affected systems.
  8. Last month, Microsoft faced a data center outage in Australia, attributed to staffing and automation problems.

Multiple incidents within a short period and spikes in reports suggest Microsoft 365 outages have seemingly significantly impacted users and businesses. Microsoft must address these issues promptly and improve infrastructure resilience to prevent future disruptions. Users and organizations should consider implementing backup and contingency plans.
