Gabe Aul has confirmed on Twitter this evening that Lumia Icon users will soon be able to download Windows 10 Mobile Redstone builds from the development branch via the Windows Insider Program. Unfortunately, this does not mean Windows 10 Mobile will be rolling out “officially” anytime soon, but gaining access to the development branch is one promising step towards that goal.

What does this mean for Icon users? Well, Icon users can now download the latest preview builds and test out the latest Windows 10 Mobile features, as well as submit feedback via the Windows Feedback app. Furthermore, Icon users will be able to use the Insider Program to upgrade to Redstone when the company finalises the update, which should be in July.

Lumia Icon users have been asking for Redstone builds since Microsoft announced that the Lumia Icon “may” get Windows 10 Mobile support. Gabe confirmed to me that today’s announcement regarding the development branch has not shifted the current “soon” status regarding an official Windows 10 Mobile rollout for the Icon, but we can assume that’ll be happening sooner rather than later.
