Microsoft rolled out the Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 update today and for those of you who own a Surface device, now is the time to update.
For those of you on Windows 8 or Windows RT on your Surface Pro or Surface RT, simply head over to the Windows Store and you will be prompted to download the Windows 8.1 update. Just follow the installer’s instructions and you will be all set.
“If you’ve been using the Preview version of Windows RT 8.1 or Windows 8.1, you can now update to the final version. This update is free for all Surface users,” Microsoft states.
For those of you who have the Windows 8.1 Preview installed on the Surface Pro, or Windows RT 8.1 Preview on the Surface RT, simply swipe in from the right edge of the screen and tap Settings. Then tap or click Change PC settings, then tap or click Update and recovery. Tap or click Check now. If there are updates available, tap or click View details. Tap or click to select the updates you want to install, and then tap or click Install.
