Age-old superstition aside, Friday the Thirteenth in May is set to be a very lucky day for FPS fans, as the date has been chosen for the release of DOOM on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, announces Bethesda.

The new DOOM is the newest entry in the iconic gaming franchise that started first-person shooters, multiplayer gaming, and virtual demon slaying, after a long hiatus for the series. Described as a coming back to the roots for developer id Software, the game features all the great elements of the original game cranked up to eleven on glorious modern graphics, including horrifying demons, over-the-top guns, and gory finishing moves.

In addition to the release date, Bethesda is also announcing a Collector’s Edition and pre-order bonuses. The Collector’s Edition will include a copy of DOOM in exclusive metal case, and a 12-inch in-game 3D file-modeled statue of the iconic Revenant demon, flaunting its dual turrets on a base-lit rotating base. The hellish kit will of course cost you a pretty money, at $119.99 for the US, €129 for Europe, and £99 for the UK. Preorderers for both editions will also get the Demon Multiplayer Pack with exclusive multiplayer add-ons.
