After numerous leaks, the latest entry in the mega-popular Call of Duty video game franchise, Call of Duty: Vanguard, has now been officially announced with a special announcement trailer, digital pre-orders, and the confirmation of numerous gameplay details.

Both the single-player campaign and the multiplayer modes will be set during World War II and there will be at least 20 multiplayer maps based in various regions around the globe at launch. 16 of these maps will be for 12-player matches while four are designed for smaller games with only four players.

The popular zombie mode will return in Call of Duty: Vanguard with a larger feel than previous iterations. The game will also feature integration with the Call of Duty: Warzone free-to-play battle royale game.

Call of Duty: Warzone is set for release on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X console generations and will support cross-progression and cross-play between each version.

The Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Warzone will be playable on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles though Xbox Series X console owners wanting the various visual improvements will need to grab the Call of Duty: Vanguard Cross-Gen Bundle which includes both gen versions. The Xbox Series X version doesn’t seem to be available on its own.

The Cross-Gen Bundle is just $10 more than the Xbox One version so it’s not that much of a price issue. A $10 upgrade is also available for those who initially buy the Xbox One version and want to upgrade at a later date.

Anyone who pre-orders either version before its November 5th launch will receive the following:

  • Night Raid Mastercraft Weapon Blueprint – for immediate use in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
  • Operator Arthur Kingsley – to be received at a later date for use in Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
  • The opportunity to pre-load the game before launch.

Here’s the official game description:

Rise on every front: Dogfight over the Pacific, airdrop over France, defend Stalingrad with a sniper’s precision and blast through advancing forces in North Africa. The Call of Duty franchise returns with Call of Duty: Vanguard, developed by Sledgehammer Games, where players will be immersed in visceral WWII combat on an unprecedented global scale.

Through a deeply engaging single player Campaign, a select group of soldiers from different countries rise to meet the world’s gravest threat. Players will also make their mark across Call of Duty’s signature Multiplayer experience, plus an exciting new Zombies experience developed by Treyarch.

Call of Duty: Vanguard will also usher in a new and unparalleled Call of Duty: Warzoneâ„¢ integration post launch, and feature cross-progression and cross-generation play, in addition to a massive calendar of free post-launch content that adds in new Multiplayer maps, modes, seasonal events, community celebrations and more.
