Activision recently announced the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 multiplayer beta. The beta is scheduled for release next week Wednesday, August 19th on Playstation 4 consoles, followed by an August 26th released for PCs and Xbox One consoles.
In preparation for its beta release, development studio Treyarch is revealing details on what Black Ops fans can expect when the beta is finally released. According to Treyarch, gamers can look forward to new maps (landing on the PS4 first, unfortunately), multiple game modes as well as new Specialist to choose from.
While the maps are promised to PS4 fans first during the beta period, all users will eventually get to play them on November 6 when the game launches.

  • Hunted: This big game hunting lodge situated beneath a waterfall in the lush mountains of Ethiopia, where rugged terrain opens up to long sightlines and a stealthy underwater pathway.
  • Combine: Set in the remote Egyptian Sahara, this vertical farming and sustainability research facility plays fast and frenetic with tight interiors, an open middle, and a dangerous flank path.
  • Evac: An abandoned emergency evacuation zone atop an overgrown rooftop in the middle of Singapore’s flooded quarantine zone.

Beta players will also gain access to a variety of game modes, most of which already exist in previous Call of Duty games such as:

  • Team Deathmatch
  • Hardpoint
  • Demolition
  • Domination
  • Kill Confirmed
  • Capture the Flag
  • Search and Destroy

Lastly, beta players will be able to try out two new Specialists, Battery, and Spectre. Both Specialists come with new weapons and abilities. As beta players hop in and out of new maps with a new specialist, they will be able to do so alongside a new Weapon Paint Shop feature. The Weapon Paint Shop allows players to create custom graphics with up to 64 layers for their weapons. The images show up on the tops and sides of weapons collected. Players can also load their weapons lockers with a host of free weaponry ranging from assault rifles, snipers, rifles, launchers, and pistols during the beta.
