New Active Recovery Technology Supports Installation, Management and Recovery by Remote and Non-technical Staff

14 October, 2010 – Barracuda Networks Inc., a leading provider of content security, data protection and application delivery solutions, today announced the availability of advanced 64-bit multiprocessing capabilities for the Barracuda NG Firewall, making full use of today’s powerful multi-core CPUs. In addition, the company introduced Active Recovery Technology for quick installation, management and recovery of Barracuda NG Firewall and Barracuda NG Control Centre appliances. The Barracuda NG Firewall is a line of virtual and hardware appliances designed to protect enterprise network infrastructure, improve site-to-site connectivity and simplify administration of network operations.

New software advancements with 64-bit multi-core processing capabilities make it possible for customers to utilise more next generation firewall capabilities in their existing Barracuda NG Firewall hardware without decreasing performance. At the high end the NG Firewall F900 appliance now provides VPN throughput of close to 4 Gbps and firewall application control throughput of up to 21 Gbps. Active Recovery technology effectively enables customers to deploy and, should the event ever arise, recover remote appliances either centrally via the Barracuda NG Control Centre or completely by non-technical users. This enables organisations to deploy and manage appliances in remote locations without costly travel expenses.

“The Barracuda NG Firewall is a unique solution because it combines the advantages of true multi-gigabit speeds with the existing benefits of massive scalability, secure connectivity and complete application control and enforcement,” said Klaus Gheri, vice president of product management for Barracuda Networks EMEA.
