The folks at AdDuplex have released the statistics for the month of October. The latest report reveals how different Windows Phone handsets are performing in major smartphone markets. It appears the market is mostly dominated by low-end smartphones in most markets, with US being one of those few markets where people tend to spend on high-end Windows Phone smartphones. As it can be seen from the image below, high-end smartphones aren’t too popular globally, but they do have a decent share in the US.
As far as the models are concerned, the Lumia 520 continues to lead the global Windows Phone market with a market share of 15.3 percent, despite a small decline in its share. Most of the top Windows Phone handsets are from the entry-level segment such as the Lumia 635, Lumia 640, Lumia 435, etc. In the US, Lumia 635 is crowned the top Windows Phone smartphone, with one interesting addition, that is, the HTC One M8 for Windows which has entered the top ten, pushing the Lumia 1520 out of the list.
There’s nothing interesting when it comes to manufacturers, Microsoft (formerly Nokia) is still the top company when it comes to Windows Phone handsets. BLU has showed up in the list and saw a negligible increase in its share, residing at 0.22 percent.
As for the Windows Phone operating system versions, Windows Phone 8.1 continues to be the top version with 79.3 percent market share. Windows 10 Mobile has also seen an increase its adoption, that’s the preview version, with a share of 5.7 percent. The new operating system is expected to roll out in the coming months for existing handsets, so we may see a jump in its market share once the new operating system starts rolling out, along with the newly announced Windows 10 Mobile handsets.
