Activision reveals “Zombies in Spaceland” co-op mode for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

The “Zombies” modes have been a tradition in Call of Duty since World at War came out, and they’ve started taking on a lot of different personalities. From fighting zombies in the White House to, most recently, fighting zombies in a film-noir setting, there’s always something new to look forward to when the annual installation of the franchise makes its way onto the scene. As Gamescom kicked off today, we finally discovered what Infinite Warfare’s zombie mode is going to consist of. Spoiler alert: It’s probably the best one.

The mode is going to be called Zombies in Spaceland, and it takes place in a theme park by the name of Spaceland. It follows the story of four main characters: A jock (Ike Barinholtz), a valley girl (Sasheer Zamata), a nerd (Seth Green), and a rapper (Jay Pharoah). Each of these characters aspired to become actors, and in the pursuit of that goal, they accepted the invitation of a director (Paul Reubens, Pee-Wee Herman himself) to the zombie-infested Spaceland.

This mode is about one thing: Eighties. Lots and lots of eighties. Neon, breakdancing, David Hasselhoff, the whole nine yards. If you like the sort of trademark campiness and nonsense that only a good eighties flick can provide, you’re going to have a blast with Infinite Warfare’s zombie mode. If you’re not quite sold, just take a look at the trailer – it’s sort of mind-blowing that they managed to fit all of that eighties ham into under two minutes.
