So you are looking to change the owner details of your Windows PC? Perfect, you have landed at just the right place. To be clear, when I talk about changing the owner’s details on your Windows, I mean both the owner and organization information of your Windows.

So, let’s jump right in and look at how to tweak your owner details right away.

How to change the owner details of your Windows PC

Microsoft really doesn’t make tweaking your owner details any easy—one of the main reasons we have so many unofficial tools that do the tweaking for you. Unlike the usual edits you can push through the Settings or Control Panel, you have to use the Windows Registry to tweak the owner details.

Before we get your hands dirty with the Windows Registry, though, make sure you already have a backup of your registries. Because any damage to your Windows Registry can be very detrimental to the normal functioning of your Windows; having a working backup for your registry will keep you safe against instances like this. We have covered this topic in detail before, so we won’t repeat it here again—you can check our guide on Registry backup and restore, and get it done.

  • There, look for the RegisteredOrganization entry and double-click on it.
  • Tweak the Value data to your organization’s name, and click OK.

That’s it. After you are done with the above steps, your registered organization’s name should be tweaked for good. You can similarly tweak the owner details from here. Here’s how:

  1. On the Registry Editor, head to the following address again:
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion
  2. Look for the RegisteredOwner entry and double-click on it.
  3. Change the Value data to the new name you’d like to add, and click on OK.

Your owner’s name will be tweaked by the end of this.

You can easily verify both changes as well. Head to the Start menu search bar, type in ‘winver.exe,’ and select the best match. The About Windows dialog box will be launched; from here, you will find your tweaked
