video games

Playing video games has always been a fun regardless of what platform you play on. But in 2005, the Xbox Achievement system was born and it changed the game so to speak. The Xbox Achievement system remains one of Microsoft’s most successful features ever released and since its introduction has been adapted and copied by other gaming platforms including PlayStation, Steam, and numerous others. Hearing that familiar Xbox chime sound when you unlock another Xbox Achievement in a game, I can’t help but want to play more Xbox games and earn more achievements.

So if you’re an Xbox Achievement hunter like me, you are probably wondering if there are other video games on other platforms that can help boost your Xbox Gamerscore. Little do people know that you can earn easy Xbox Achievements on some Android and iOS games too.
These Android and iOS games will be familiar, as the Xbox Achievement lineup has changed a lot in the last 5 years.

All of these games are available on Android and iOS in the provided app store links.

Forza Street

Released in 2019, Forza Street offers a free-to-play, casual driving experience where you alternate between stepping on the gas and turbo. Steering is handled automatically as you race in cinematic head-to-head scenic races in order to win as many cars as possible.

If you expect a full Forza racing experience, you will be disappointed.

Forza Street is a simpler version offering drastically less features than a more complete racing experience like Forza Horizon 5. Adding 1,000 in Gamerscore with only 12 achievements, this game still offers the most  challenging gameplay.

Microsoft Solitaire Collection

Available on Android and iOS, Microsoft Solitaire Collection offers the best solitaire gaming experience available anywhere.

The game is a part of the Microsoft Casual Games Studio, along with three other video games on this list. Microsoft Solitaire Collection is free to play, but you can pay more to remove in-game advertising and add more premium features ($9.99 a year or $1.99 a month).

If you can master this game, you will earn 76 achievements and boost your Gamerscore up a whopping 1,850 points.

Microsoft Mahjong

A classic tile-matching game, Microsoft Mahjong offers hundreds of puzzles to solve, new tile sets and unique daily challenges. With four levels of difficulty and a special new undo system, you can rewind the game back to any spot in your game to fix your mistakes.

Microsoft Mahjong offers 40 achievements and adding 1,000 Gamerscore.

Microsoft Sudoku is another game that offers a similar revamped undo system as Mahjong. Use numbers to complete the each logic-based puzzle. With 45 achievements totaling a Gamerscore of 1,000, Microsoft Sudoku offers daily challenges, online multiplayer and even the ability to change the app theme from within the app itself.

In 2018, the Better Together Update enabled Xbox Live achievements on Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch too. With 114 Xbox Achievements totaling 2,680 in Gamerscore, you will have plenty of things to do with Minecraft.

Xbox and Game Pass

Xbox and Game Pass are similar in function, but offer a different experience when it comes to playing video games.

The Xbox app allows you to remote play games directly from your Xbox console and replaced the functionality of the Xbox Console Companion app. Whereas the Game Pass app allows you to play games included as part of an Xbox Game Pass subscription from the Microsoft cloud on your iPhone or Android phone.

Of other Android and iOS video games mentioned in a previous post, Gears POP! is no longer available as it shut down its servers earlier this year. Age of Empires: Castle Siege was shut down in May 2019 and Snap Attack was shut down in May 2018.

Halo Spartan Assault and Halo Spartan Strike both mysteriously disappeared from the Google Play Store. Both are available to play and earn Xbox Achievements via the Game Pass app or on Steam.
