It’s yet another busy day if you’re a Microsoft Edge Insider. There are two major stories to report late this afternoon. First off, build 92.0.884.2 hit the Dev channel, with no major changes. Finally, Microsoft Edge Beta has also landed on Linux, too, with the version 91 release. We’ve got you covered with a look at everything you need to know.
First off, there’s the Edge Dev news. Microsoft says that today’s Dev build for Linux experienced some issues getting built and it might get skipped on that operating system. Other than that, there are two new things in today’s Dev release on the other OS. Microsoft added the ability for Guided Switch to remember which profile to use per website. They also added options in Print Preview to Fit To Page and to print as Actual Size.
You can see below for some of the other reliability fixes and changed behaviors in this Edge Dev release. These are wide-ranging as always, fixing various crashes, and issues which have persisted over the past couple of weeks. We hit the highlights, but the full list can be seen here at Microsoft.
- Fixed a crash when playing certain DRM-protected videos.
- Fixed an issue where opening a PWA or website installed as an app when no regular browser window is open sometimes crashes the browser.
- Fixed a crash when importing data from another browser.
- Fixed a crash when typing in the address bar in InPrivate windows.
- Fixed an issue where certain videos cause the GPU process to leak memory.
- Fixed an issue where certain popups like permission prompts are blank.
- Fixed an issue where searching for a Setting causes the Settings page to go blank.
- Fixed an issue where removing search providers sometimes unexpectedly disables other features.
- Fixed an issue where the keyboard shortcuts to open Favorites, History, etc. sometimes don’t work when used from PWAs or websites installed as apps.
Known issues in this release are the same as it has been in the past. Again, Microsoft is hung up on these it seems and we hope it can be fixed soon. You can check through our last post where we talked about these known issues for more.
We’ll end by hitting the highlights of Edge 91 Beta on Linux. This is great news for Linux users, as Edge Beta is more stable than Edge Dev branch builds which have long been the only way to enjoy the Microsoft browser on Linux.
