Talking about Xbox, Teams, Edge, and a lot more

Hello, everyone, and welcome back to OnPodcast: The OnMSFT.com Podcast. This is our weekly podcast series featuring our contributing writers, Kareem Anderson and Arif Bacchus.

For episode 12 this week, we have a jam-packed schedule. We’ll begin by recapping some big Teams news, which is Teams getting some new personal-themed features. We’ll then move on to a special segment with our Senior Editor and resident Xbox expert, Laurent Giret, where he’ll talk about his experience with Xbox Series X and Series S consoles. The show will then shift to talk about some Edge news, and Microsoft’s new Pluton security chip for upcoming PCs.

Of course, there’s The Week Ahead segment, too. Here, Arif and Kareem will talk about some topics they think will be big for Microsoft in the week ahead. This includes Windows 10 on ARM news, Black Friday shipping with Edge, and more!

Topic 1: Teams personal features (2:06-11:31)

Microsoft Teams Personal Features

In this first segment, Arif and Kareem recap the biggest Microsoft news from this week — Teams getting some personal features. Some of the same features that have been in preview on mobile as part of “Teams for Life” are now on desktop, too. Arif and Kareem will go through the list of features, which should make it easier to chat with your friends and family this holiday season. They’ll even talk about how this impacts Zoom and Skype.

Topic 2: Microsoft’s Pluton Security Chip (11:31-20:57)

Microsoft Pluton Chip

For this third segment, Arif and Kareem go through a story from earlier this week, Microsoft’s Pluton security chip. The two get into what this chip means for the PC industry, and how it can help make your system even more secure. There’s even some talk about how it compares to Apple’s M1 chip, too.

Topic 3: Edge news Recap (20:57-26:48)

Microsoft Edge Holiday Shopping

In this final segment, Arif and Kareem go through the week in Edge news. It’s been a busy week here, and there are a lot of topics to look at. They’ll talk about Edge coming to Apple’s M1 Macs, Edge getting new Fluent Design icons, the ability to sync history, and add texts to PDF notes. There’s even a tease for something that might help you this holiday season, too.

Topic 4: All things Xbox with Laurent (26:48-39:50)

Xbox Series S Next To Xbox Series X

Next up is a special segment featuring our Senior Editor and resident Xbox expert, Laurent Giret. In this segment, Arif sits down with Laurent and asks him questions about his experience with the Xbox Series S and Series X consoles. This includes his thoughts on which console is his favorite, which console is best, and even how he thinks the consoles compare to Sony’s PS5. Laurent will even go through some of the differences between the two systems, too.

Week Ahead (39:50-end)

As always, to end the OnPodcast, Arif and Kareem will talk about some topics they think will be big for Microsoft in the week ahead. This week, that includes Black Friday shopping with Edge.
