Microsoft’s Cortana may be a bit behind Amazon’s Alexa and the other digital assistants, but it recently picked up a new feature which may boost your productivity. Indeed, noted by Windows Central, Cortana on Windows 10 and the Harman Kardon Invoke can now check for your Outlook emails.

To get the digital assistant to check your email, all you need to do is ask “Hey Cortana, do I have any new email?” The assistant will then check your Outlook account, and read from the list of unread messages, including the subject line and the name of the person who sent it. See it in action below.

You can also use Cortana to reply, though it is limited to a short reply known as a “short note.” And for further precision, the assistant can even check for older unread messages, from yesterday or before that.

We might still be waiting on the Cortana and Alexa integration but it is great to see the assistant picking up new skills. There’s still no word on if this feature will come to iOS or Android, but we’re hoping it will be added soon.
