Xiaomi has once again forayed into the laptop category under its Redmi sub-brand in India with its RedmiBook series. Last year, the company had launched its Mi Notebook series in the country where it enjoys leadership in the smartphone category.
The two affordable laptops launched – RedmiBook Pro and RedmiBook e-Learning Edition – are quite similar, and essentially differ in only processor and storage. These could well have been different SKUs of the same product, but the company probably wanted to double down the pitch for students and virtual learners with the e-learning edition and target the usual office workers with the Pro moniker.
Both the laptops are powered by the 11 Gen Intel processors – the RedmiBook Pro comes with TigerLake Core i5 H35 series processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics while the e-Learning Edition comes packed with a TigerLake Core i3 processor. While both laptops feature a 15.6-inch display. Xiaomi has managed to offer a slim profile and kept the weight under 2 kgs to make the ‘thin and light’ pitch.
Both the RedmiBook laptops run Windows 10 Home and are eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 11 when it is available and come pre-loaded with Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition 2019.
