Xbox One X makes top 5 on Google’s 2017 consumer tech search list

Google has released their annual Year in Search data, and Microsoft received a solid 5th place spot in the categorical Consumer Tech listing. Looking at global searches, the Xbox One X falls behind the iPhone X and Nintendo Switch but ahead of the Razer Phone, and OnePlus 5.


You can check out the full list here for yourself, which puts the iPhone 8 in the number one spot, followed by the iPhone X in second, Nintendo Switch in third, and the Galaxy S8 in fourth. Compellingly, subsequent data also shows that search interest in the Xbox One X peaked at 90% from June 11-17 during E3, before falling and then rising up again to 100% around November 5-11. just in time for the console release on November 7th.

Google says that the lists are based on search terms that had a high spike in traffic in 2017 as compared to 2016. Keep in mind the Xbox One X also made Time Magazine’s Top 10 gadgets of 2017 list, so maybe this does show that the world was indeed truly captivated by the Xbox One X in 2017.
