PlayStation 4 continues to outsell Microsoft’s Xbox One in global sales, but the Xbox One is apparently gaining more popularity in the past few weeks, especially after the launch of several exclusive titles. In a recent report from MCV, citing numbers are based on their GfK Chart-Track, Xbox One has reached the one million sales milestone in the UK outselling PlayStation 4 in the UK in the past three weeks.
Microsoft has done aggressive marketing, and introduced several new bundles for the holiday season to attract more customers to purchase the console. Not too long ago, Microsoft reduced the price of the Xbox One by $50 in the United States, a promotion valid until January 3rd — it’s also applicable to special bundles.
Games like the popular Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare helped the console boost its sales figure. In addition to games, Microsoft also introduced a white Xbox One and 1TB Call of Duty Advanced Warfare bundle.
“We’re seeing fantastic momentum with Xbox One having sold almost 10 million units to retailers worldwide,” said Xbox UK marketing director Harvey Eagle. “This momentum is reflected in the UK, particularly over the last three weeks, which is extremely encouraging as we approach the Christmas shopping period. People buy consoles to play the best games, and Xbox One is home to the best games. Halo: The Master Chief Collection is one of the highest rated next-gen console games released, Sunset Overdrive is the highest rated new franchise on any next-gen console and Forza Horizon 2 is the highest rated driving game on any next gen console.”
Furthermore, several popular titles are expected to launch in 2015 for Xbox One, including Quantum Break, Fable Legends and Halo 5: Guardians. Xbox One still has a long way to go before it can topple PlayStation 4 sales. Let’s hope Microsoft will be able to keep up the good sales momentum, and increase the sales of the Xbox One.Further reading: Gaming, Microsoft, Xbox, Xbox One
