ReddX first launched on the Xbox One back in August of 2014 and was considered the “first ever Reddit app for the TV”. Those who loved browsing through their favorite subreddits now got to do so on the big screen and in the comfort of the living room sofa and today, ReddX got even better.
ReddX version 1.1 introduces a few welcome updates since they were the result of user feedback. The first new feature is the ability to click on links inside comments and have them open within the app itself. Comment threads can now be expanded and collapsed with ease, users can subscribe, unsubscribe and search for subreddits, videos and any media content can be made full screen, and several bugs have been squished and performance improvements made.
Following numerous user complaints about adverts in the app, the developers have now made an ad-free ‘ReddX Plus’ available for $2.99 (one-time purchase, not monthly). If you couldn’t download ReddX before due to regional restrictions, you may be happy to know that ReddX is now also available to users in the UK, Ireland, Czech Republic, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, Slovakia, Greece, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, and India. To welcome these new customers, the developers have made a free trial of ReddX available with no ads for one week.
The app can be controlled using the Xbox One controller, voice and gestures with Kinect, the Xbox One Media Remote, or the Xbox One SmartGlass app for Windows and Windows Phone. The variety of devices and the simplicity of the user interface makes it a rather pleasant experience navigating and using the app.
You can download ReddX for Xbox One now by searching for it in the Xbox One Store. Oh and the devs also threw in some Easter eggs, so happy hunting!Further reading: Microsoft, Reddit, ReddX, Xbox One
