Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PS4 Fortnite players can no longer merge their accounts

Back in February, Epic Games launched an official method for merging Fortnite accounts so that players with game saves on multiple platforms could bring all of the items and in-game currency under one username.

As of yesterday, this functionality has been completely discontinued, though, so those that were unable to merge their accounts before the deadline, or had completely forgotten to do so, will now have to choose which of their accounts to abandon and which to play under.

The account merging feature was created in response to PlayStation 4 players who were forced to create new Fortnite accounts when playing the popular game on other platforms due to Sony’s hard stance against crossplay and cross saves with rival consoles. When cross-platform functionality was eventually enabled on the PS4, Fortnite players could then use the one Fortnite account and a need for bringing all of their purchases and unlocked items under one system was needed.

Fortnite is currently one of the most-popular video games in the world and is playable on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PS4 consoles in addition to Windows, iOS, and Android devices.
