Xbox 360 consoles get a rare system update

If you’re still playing games on your Xbox 360, Microsoft has just release a new system update for the console to fix some minor bugs. Even though the Redmond giant stopped manufacturing the Xbox 360 back in 2016, Microsoft is still supporting the console which still has a healthy player base nearly 14 years after its initial launch.

The Xbox 360 system update was released back in May 2018, and the release notes for today’s update contain an identical “Minor bug fixes and improvements” item. We don’t have any further details, but your console should install this system update automatically if it’s connected to the Internet.

After Microsoft announced that it would no longer add new Xbox 360 titles to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility list, interest for the Xbox 360 could soon get a boost. Indeed, there are still many old gems that have not been made available on the Xbox One, including classics such as Max Payne 3 or Mortal Kombat 9.

The Xbox 360 also remains a great console to play offline games, and it still has popular media apps like Netflix. Let’s hope Microsoft will continue to support the Xbox 360 and its Xbox Live service for many years to come.
