The Windows Phone General Distribution Release 2 (GDR2) has been spotted rolling out to the Lumia 735 and Lumia 830 in France and Italy. The update brings a number of improvements including Bluetooth keyboard support, Wi-Fi calling (depending on carrier), as well as many other small improvements. The full list can be found on Microsoft’s page on the GDR2 update.

Other noticeable changes include a sorted settings menu that groups common settings together in groups such as the ‘network + wireless’ section that includes Wi-Fi, airplane mode, Bluetooth, NFC, and more.

The GDR2 update first appeared preinstalled on the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL and is also available on various other Lumia devices, though some of them are part of the Windows Insider program such as the Lumia 930.

The update would probably have been considered more newsworthy if Windows 10 wasn’t just over the horizon. That being said, the latest reports have Windows 10 Mobile not being available until at earliest this autumn so the changes brought in GDR2 are welcomed. We knew as early as April that the update would be arriving on these devices.

The tips we received show the update rolling out to the Lumia 735 and Lumia 830 in France and Italy. Thank you to our tipsters Álex and Michaël. The tips led us to and were confirmed by MicrosoftInsider and MonWindowsPhone.
