Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 enables Internet sharing over Bluetooth, full Cortana support on lock screen
Microsoft rolled out Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 Developer Preview earlier this week. While the update doesn’t offer too many breathtaking features, it does pack in several neat utilities that users might find handy. One such feature allows users to share the internet via Bluetooth. While the other feature lets you interact with Cortana even from the lock screen.
Sharing the internet has been possible on Windows Phone for years now, however, until now it didn’t allow users to share it over Bluetooth. As opposed to WiFi, the ability to share internet data through Bluetooth will allow a couple of old handsets among other devices that don’t have WiFi connectivity capability to hook up to the internet.
The second little handy feature allow users to access the voice assistant Cortana on the lock screen. With Windows Phone 8.1, users were able to change the music and initiate phone calls, however, now they can do just about anything on the lock screen. However, Cortana doesn’t share your personal results in the locked mode.
