Windows Libraries in Windows 8 ‘misbehaving’ for some users, tells you it can be safely deleted

Windows 8 Libraries

“Documents.library-ms is no longer working. This library can be safely deleted from your computer. Folders that have been included will not be affected,” reads the error prompt for those affected by ‘misbehaving libraries’ in Windows 8. Do you have this issue too?

Some Windows 8 users are reporting that they are facing an issue with Windows Libraries in Windows 8. When launching Windows Explorer (or is File Explorer the proper term?), and navigating to your Libraries folder will result in a prompt (as seen in the screenshot above). The issue? Misbehaving libraries!

The solution is simple. All you have to do is right-click the Documents, Music, Pictures, and/or Videos folder under Libraries, and select “Delete.” According to Microsoft, this does not delete the content of the folder but simply deletes the library. Once you have deleted these four folders, simply right click on Libraries and select “Restore default libraries.” Now watch as those four library folders are restored and your problem solved!

I faced the same issue on my Windows 8 workstation computer and tried out the fix Microsoft provided to its support forum users. Ultimately, I was able to fix the issue within a few seconds. So if you are having the same pesky misbehaving libraries issue, try out the fix and let us know if you resolved the problem!
