Microsoft removed May 2019 upgrade block

Microsoft finally removed the upgrade block that was in place for the Windows 10 May 2019 Update due to anti-cheating tool issues.

The company informed users that the compatibility issue with some anti-cheat software is almost solved. Microsoft stated:

Many games that use anti-cheat software have released fixes for the issue causing PCs to bugcheck (GSOD). The upgrade block that prevents Windows Insiders from updating to the latest build will be removed soon.

The tech giant didn’t provide additional details regarding the apps affected by game launch issues. Previously, Microsoft said the company is working on a fix in collaboration with the anti-cheat software developers. Apparently, we are starting to see the results now.

Some issues still exist

However, some compatibility issues still exist in the 19H1 build 18362. Microsoft’s engineers are still investigating the issues with Creative X-Fi sound cards and RealteK SD Card readers.

Although the company lifted the upgrade block, users may still encounter some issues. The company recommends Windows 10 users to use the Feedback Hub so as to send in detailed feedback about this problem.

Windows 10 v1903 system requirements changed

The Redmond giant announced it increased the minimum storage requirements for Windows 10 May 2019 Update.

Windows 10 (32/64 bit) systems should now have a minimum of 32GB storage space. The company also revealed its plans to simplify the Start Menu in the upcoming update.

However, those who tried the newly released ISOs files on MSDN still got some preinstalled apps.

Last month, Microsoft decided to go for an additional round of testing for Windows  10 19H1 in the Release Preview ring. The company wanted to get rid of as many issues as it can before going for a public release.

Microsoft is gearing up for the release of Windows 10 May 2019 Update later this month. Let’s hope the official release doesn’t bring any major issues.
