Microsoft just dropped a cumulative update for Windows 10, and it includes quality improvements and security fixes. While not widespread, since the release, though, some Windows 10 users on Reddit have complained that the update makes their computer slow. Microsoft has responded to such complaints, and a Microsoft employee has posted a workaround for the issue to the Windows 10 subreddit.

Posted by johnwinkmsft, the Microsoft employee notes that, “if your PC is abnormally slow after installing the update, you may be seeing a problem that I’ve been trying to track down for a couple of weeks.” To try and alleviate the slowness, though, the employee recommends to do the following:

  •  Click in the Cortana search box to bring up Cortana
  • Click the Notebook
  • Click Settings
  • Move the slider under “Cortana can give you suggestions, ideas, reminders, alerts and more.” to “Off”
