Vuforia Universal Windows Platform support adds the ability to attach experiences to HoloLens

Augmented Reality becomes more of a reality for tech enthusiasts every day and the team at Vuforia is helping speed that process along. Vuforia 6, which is an SDK for Augmented Reality developers, is making its way to the Universal Windows Platform, bringing a whole new world of AR possibilities to light. Instead of reading up on the painstaking details of how it might work, you may just want to check out the stage demo that the Microsoft team put up on YouTube – it’s pretty impressive, to say the least.

Vuforia on Windows 10 made it easy for the speaker to grab their PC and materialize a 3D CAT loader, even enabling him to make notes on it. The model has some impressive detail, to the point where you can easily look into the window of the loader and check out what’s going on inside. While the AR features on a Surface were strong, they’re nothing compared to what the HoloLens has going on. If you grab the loader through HoloLens, you can expand it to its real size and inspect it with better a perspective, even changing its configuration so you can identify exactly what you’re looking for.

Vuforia is coming to HoloLens with the next HoloLens development edition release, opening up to any developer who wants to try it out. No application necessary, no random chance to get into the beta, no strings attached. Feel free to play around with it as much as you like.
