Lumia Icon users have had to deal with a lot of disappointment recently as Verizon had long delayed the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 for the handset – even Lumia Cyan which is yet to make its way to the handset. But, in a recently published data sheet on the Big Red’s website, it seems the wait may be over soon.
The uploaded document lists all the features Windows Phone 8.1.1 with Lumia Denim has to offer for the Lumia Icon. The latest Windows Phone 8.1.1 update with Lumia Denim features Microsoft’s personal digital assistant Cortana which is already available on several Microsoft devices from the past few months, not just in the United States, but in a few other regions as well.
Furthermore, the update brings a new Action Center, allowing users quick access to connectivity toggles and notifications, as well as an improved Wordflow keyboard, better Start screen customization, Skype call integration, improved Internet Explorer, Sense apps, and a lot more. The update also brings an updated camera app, which give users the ability to capture HDR images and 4K video recording capabilities.
There’s no word if the update has already started rolling out, but considering that Verizon has uploaded the change log, it shouldn’t take a long time for the OTA to start rolling out for the frustrated Lumia Icon owners. Usually, it takes a day or two for the Big Red to get the process going, but the way the carrier handled the whole software update issue for the neglected Lumia Icon, we won’t be surprised if it gets a little late.
Nonetheless, you should keep an eye on your device and also check for the update manually later in the afternoon to see if it has arrived. We’ll update you as soon as Verizon starts rolling out the update.
