As we learned at Mobile World Congress, the Lumia 640 is a new handset from Microsoft aimed at the low end of the market. While it has already been released in some parts of the world, the U.S. has been left out. Well, for those eagerly awaiting yet another budget Lumia, the waiting may soon be coming to an end.
Microsoft is displaying the T-Mobile version for $89 at the online Microsoft Store (which has just been pulled). By comparison, the current Lumia 635 has hovered around $50. What will the additional money get you?
- 8 MP camera vs 5 MP.
- 5” 1280 x 720 resolution display vs 854 x 480.
- LED flash vs no flash.
- 1 MP front-facing camera vs no FFC.
- Glance vs no Glance.
Additionally, there are other goodies, such as access to the improved Lumia Camera 5.0 app. Not a bad deal, considering this is the price for a brand new, off-contract, just-released phone. And who needs a flagship anyway! The wait might soon be over.Further reading: Lumia, Lumia 640, Microsoft, Windows Phone
