Microsoft’s October 2nd event is getting closer by the day, and we’re now starting to see information about what Microsoft could be getting ready to unleash at its annual event. Although the event is expected to include hardware announcements, nothing major is expected from the Surface team, such as new form factors, and there is likely to be a number of non-hardware announcements too.

A new report suggests that Microsoft is preparing to announce an updated Surface Laptop which will bring newer internals, such as the processor, but that the company is also going back to black, reminiscing from the original Surface Pro days (via Thurrott). A black version of the Surface Laptop is expected to arrive alongside a chrome Microsoft logo, allowing it to contrast beautifully with the colour of the laptop. An updated Surface Pro is expected to follow in the footsteps too, delivering a black colour scheme.

We’ll be keeping you up to date on the latest expectations from Microsoft’s October event, as well as giving you all the new announcements during the event, so keep your eye on On MSFT.
