It’s been a busy summer for Xbox, with E3 and gamescom, and lots of announcements about new games, backward compatibility, and lots more. But the season isn’t over yet, and Microsoft is shifting its focus to independent gaming with a big presence at PAX Prime next week in Seattle.
PAX, or the Penny Arcade eXpo, has grown from inauspicious beginnings to become the place to go for independent gamers and game developers, and the streets of Seattle will be full of cosplayers and all sorts of interesting characters as the event gets underway next weekend. Of course Xbox will be there in full force, according to Major Nelson.
Microsoft is hosting an [email protected] event the day before PAX Prime officially kicks off next Friday, with an event over at Building 92 with the promise of over 50 as yet unreleased titles ready to play. Those include Cuphead, The Flame in the Flood, We Happy Few, SpeedRunners, and more, and the event is all free, including shuttle service to and from the Washington State Convention Center to Microsoft’s campus.
During the actual conference, Larry Hyrb will be hosting, as he has done for almost the past 10 years at PAX, Major Nelson Radio, his unofficial Xbox podcast. Major Nelson will be recording in front of a live studio audience at the Sphinx Theatre in the Convention Center.
Xbox will also have quite a presence on the convention floor with their Xbox booth, and Major Nelson is promising more news on the booth soon, it should be quite the spectacle.
Oh and one last thing, Larry is hosting a special Scalebound panel on Monday at 3:30pm, including Scalebound Game Director Hideki Kamiya, and featuring gameplay demos.Further reading: Major Nelson, PAX Prime, Xbox
