In the UK? The free Display Dock with 950 or 950 XL offer is back

In light of Microsoft’s underwhelming sales of new Lumia handsets, we have seen an increase in offers to help move inventory. Recently Microsoft extended a BOGO (Buy-One-Get-One) free offer for the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. If you are looking for a new premium Windows Phone handset it is quite a deal on face value. But then again, practically speaking, how many people actually need two flagship phones, let alone two flagships Windows Phones? It is a great deal, but not necessarily one that is useful for everyday users.

Fortunately, it looks like Microsoft is going to change up its free deals a little to give perspective Windows Phone shoppers some choice. Windows Central spotted this morning that Microsoft UK will be bringing back the free Microsoft Display Dock offer for new owners of the Lumia 950 or Lumia 950 XL, a £79.99 value.

Specifically, if you buy a Lumia 950 or 950 XL in the UK between May 24th and June 30th, then you can claim a free Display Dock in the pre-installed Lumia Offers app. The Display Dock is the best way to experience the new Continuum feature for phones which uses your phone to power a desktop like experience. The Display connects your new Lumia 950 or 950 XL to a monitor, mouse, keyboard, and other USB peripherals. Once everything is connected, your phone can power a traditional mouse and keyboard desktop experience, running the full desktop version of Universal Windows Apps.

Continuum can also work wirelessly without a dock, but currently the best lag free way to use continuum is with a Display Dock. The Dock also comes with 3 USB ports, 1 display port, and 1 HDMI port to connect to your phone, so it can also enable a more desktop-like experience in regard to peripherals.

Microsoft first offered free Display Docks for new Lumia 950 XL owners when the handset first launched US, Canada, Germany, and the UK last fall. But this new Display Dock offer is available for both the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. There is nothing to indicate if this offer will be extended to any other markets beyond the UK. But if you are a UK shopper looking for a new Windows Phone, this is a great offer to get the most out of your new premium handset.
