Twitter app ‘Aeries’ for Windows 10 now lets you save videos and GIFs

If there’s one social media platform where Windows users have no lack for apps, it’s Twitter. The official offering is a pretty decent experience that’s been fully updated for Windows 10, but as with tradition regarding our underdog OS, it’s third-party apps from independent developers that shines. One of the best of them, Aeries, from developer Brad Stevenson, has received two cool new features with the latest update, reports Windows Central.
The update, pushing the version number to 2.2.0.42.0, introduces the ability for users to save GIFs and Videos from their timeline. One of the biggest allures of Twitter is the spontaneous videos and creative GIFs that captures just the right feelings of the moment, and with Aeries, you now get to keep them all if you want.
The second new feature is Dynamic Themes. Aeries features themes, with one caveat: the app has to be closed and reopened every time the theme is changed. With the new update and Dynamic Themes, that is no longer the case.
Besides the two new features, the update also brings several stability fixes. The full changelog is as follows:
- Fixed a crash when trying to view the details of a deleted tweet.
- Fixed interaction with video controls and restored close on tap/click.
- Themes are now dynamic, not requiring a restart when switching – this also applies to when sunset mode is on.
- Now easily save videos and GIFs.
- Fixed an issue where initial sections for an account would have duplicate interactions sections.
- Fixed an issue where autosuggest would not work on some devices.
- Fixed a crash when pinning a user to home.
- Fixed an issue with undoing retweets.
