When Microsoft launched the Surface Dial the company envisioned developers coming up with many uses and integrations for the then new accessory. Well, a little over 1 and a half years later, Hi! computer has come up with an app which lets you use Surface Dial as a MIDI controller (via MusicRadar.)
More information is available on the Hi! Computer website, but all it takes to get started is to download the "Elephant" app for $6.50. You can then hold your mouse in the object on the app to be controlled, and then turn the Surface Dial for that action. You don't need to map anything, and the app can connect with Surface Dial to your favorite music software.
A free trial of the app is available, but you'll need to be running the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update or newer to enjoy the experience. See it in action in the video above, and feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments below.Further reading: MIDI, Surface, Surface Dial
