Following the release of Windows 10 insider build 17110 yesterday, many Windows Insiders have reported that the Microsoft Store app had disappeared after installing the new bits. Microsoft has acknowledged the issue yesterday and said that it was “actively investigating” all these reports.

The Windows Insider Team also explained in a forum thread that Windows Insiders should not attempt to reset the Microsoft Store app. “This will inadvertently remove all visible traces of the application from your PC,” explained Microsoft’s Jason Howard.

In the meantime, some Windows Insiders have found some ways to bring back the Microsoft Store app using PowerShell. This workaround shared by Microsoft MVP Andre Da Costa apparently did the trick for many Insiders:

Press Windows key + X
Click Windows PowerShell (Admin)
At the command prompt, type the following then hit Enter:

Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Restart, then try launching the Store again.

We’re still waiting for Microsoft to share more details about the issue, and it’s still hard to know if many Insiders have seen the Microsoft Store app disappear after installing the new build. If you’ve been affected by it, let us know if that Powershell worked on your PC.
