That headline might seem a bit odd to you, Microsoft throwing the coolest party in town? The people who make Word and Excel? And Access?!?

You wouldn’t be at fault for thinking that way; after all, Microsoft is just starting to get into the stride of being considered a “cool” tech company. Not long ago, pre-Xbox or Surface, it was largely business as usual, with Windows updates, Office updates, and more Windows updates. However, times have changed for Microsoft–now they’re the ones throwing the best Vegas afterparty.

Usually, “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” but today we get that rare glimpse into those crazy nightclub parties you hear about. For CES, Microsoft rented out the Omnia nightclub at Caesar’s Palace and brought all the bells and whistles. Floating Darth Vadar? Check. Storm Trooper bottle servers? Check. Cirque Ole type performers? Check. Dom Perignon? Check. DJ Aoki? Why not.

From the looks of the pictures taken from Venture Beat’s report, it looks to have been a great time. With Microsoft steadily becoming more and more focused on their goals for the future with Windows 10, Office, Surface, and Xbox, it’s cool to see them able to loosen up and get a bit wild. Don’t believe us, take a look for yourself.

Who knows what’s next for Microsoft’s and the party scene. Perhaps it will be a Surface phone that’s used to take the selfie at the next Academy Awards.
