Through a recent update, Whatsapp Beta version 2.2205.2.0, received a clean dark mode for both Windows 11 and Windows 10 users. And now, there is yet another feature that is making its way to the application, emoji shortcuts.

This feature makes its debut on the application’s official beta channel on the Microsoft Store as Whatsapp Beta version 2.2206.1.0. As noted by WaBetaInfo, the emoji shortcut feature is essentially supposed to allow users to access an emoji in relation to the keywords that they type.

However, users should first include a colon before typing in the keyword. Note that the standard WhatsApp Web, Desktop experience already had this feature, and it’s now just being carried over to the UWP version. We included an example for you below.

Once you upgrade to the latest version of WhatsApp beta UWP, the feature should already be active. The feature is already enabled for use, all you need to do is download the update through the Microsoft Store. If you’re not already using the app, check it out via the link below.
