Starting today, Xbox One gamers will get the online beta for Red Dead Redemption 2. For Xbox Live subscribers who put down money on Red Dead Redemption 2 Ultimate version, they should have access to the online beta starting today, with other versions of the game getting access to the online beta through Friday this week. The online beta is free to all those that own Red Dead Redemption 2.
The open beta is designed to be the beginning of “Red Dead Online,” meaning that it won’t run for a limited time. Instead, Rockstar Games hopes to let players to keep their Red Dead Online game progress as developers continue to work out the bugs and performance issues in the online world. Rockstar posted a statement on their blog regarding details on the launch of Red Dead Online Beta.
“The launch of the Red Dead Online Beta is the first step in what will be a continually expanding and dynamic world, and the beta period will allow us to deal with the inevitable turbulence of launching any online experience of this size and scale. During this process, we will be looking to our dedicated and amazing community to help us report and fix problems, share ideas, and assist in shaping the future of the full Online experience. As with all of our releases, we will strive to make the launch of Red Dead Online the best it can possibly be, and we ask that the community share that spirit with us over the next weeks and months.”
Red Dead Online will feature an open world and include many of the same aspects of the single player game, including animals, support for hunting, fishing, treasuring hunting, posses, camps and different competitive modes. While the game will not include any complex narratives, there will be a online co-op player mode available. Players can form a posse with up to seven players online to roam the wilderness in search of treasure or fight rival gangs.
