The original Cyberpunk 2077 trailer was released 10 years ago today

Hard as it is to believe, the first teaser trailer for CD Projekt Red’s sci-fi action-RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is ten years old as of today, January 10th. Likely no one would have guessed at the time that it would be eight years until the game finally was released. Fewer still might have guessed that that release would go down as one of the worst in gaming history.

As you will see for yourself, the Cyberpunk 2077 we finally got in 2020—following years of hype and anticipation—turned out to be a very different game than the one shown in the first trailer, which at present has been seen 26 million times.

Nevertheless, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a long but fruitful path to redemption following its launch, and has now gone on to see over 20 million copies sold. The game recently was the recipient of the 2022 Steam Awards Labor of Love award for most improved game, and a sequel has been announced.
