It was back in May 2013 when Microsoft originally confirmed that it is working on a Halo television series. Since then there have been a number of setbacks, such as when Microsoft closed Xbox Entertainment Studios in 2014, leading to the Halo TV series being taken over by 343 Industries.

Not much has been said of the TV series in the meantime. As a result, AR12Gaming reached out to Microsoft for comment, and to clarify whether the project is still in development. To our surprise, a spokesperson for Microsoft and 343 Industries responded, stating that “progress on the Halo Television Series continues”. Continuing, the spokesperson said:

We want to ensure we’re doing this the right way together with a team of creative partners (Steven Spielberg and Showtime) that can help us build the best Halo series that fans expect and deserve. We have no further details to share at this time.

There’s little information there, as Microsoft continues to be rather quiet on the subject, but it does at least confirm the TV series is still in the pipeline, despite no information on a release date.
