Surface Pro 4 receives firmware update, Windows Hello, cameras, and UEFI included

If you’ve been waiting for some new firmware update goodness for your Surface Pro 4, then Microsoft decided to deliver a little later in the afternoon than usual (at least on the east coast of the U.S.). Today, Microsoft pushed some firmware updates for the Surface Pro 4 (updated: and the Surface Book as well), including a number of components.

On the author’s machine, an update error notification first came in, and visiting Settings > Windows Update, the following screen popped up:

Surface Pro 4 firmware updates.

Surface Pro 4 firmware updates.

Hitting update then installed each component separately, and then the machine rebooted. So, the process was a little different than past updates, with the addition of another step. Your mileage may vary.

If you have a Surface Book, hit up our tip line and let us know if you receive an update as well.
