Surface Pro 3 owners can now pre-order the docking station from Microsoft’s online store for $199.99. The accessory ships next month and features the same design as the original docking station, but comes packed with improvements.
“Surface is all about productivity, and next to the Surface Pro 3 device itself, nothing shouts productivity as loudly as clicking into the new Docking Station. It instantly turns your Surface Pro 3 into a full-blown desktop PC, giving you easy access to your external monitors, keyboard, mouse, printer, speakers, and more,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.
The docking station for the Surface Pro 3 features more USB ports and support for USB 3.0. With the docking station, you now have a total of 6 available USB ports, including the port on the Surface. You can connect an external monitor and even use multiple monitors if you so desire.
Microsoft is touting the docking station as offering the ability to turn your Surface Pro 3 into a desktop. “The Surface Pro 3 Docking Station is a simple and elegant way to increase the utility of your Surface Pro 3—the tablet that can replace your laptop. With the Surface Pro 3 Docking Station, it’s also the tablet that can become your desktop.”
