The holiday season is now upon us and if you’re looking to get your hands on a Surface Pro 2, you had better hope that more find their way to the stores soon. Take a look in the Microsoft Store and you’ll find that only the 128GB model is available — the 64GB, 256GB and 512GB variants are all out of stock.
Selling out of the cheapest model (the 64GB Surface Pro 2 cost $899 when unit are available) is not entirely surprising, but it is interesting to see that the two most expensive models cannot be bought at the moment. With price tags of $1,299 and $1,799 respectively it would be reasonable to expect these particular units to hang around for longer.
It’s not clear whether there has been a sudden pre-holiday run on the larger devices, or if stock levels were lower to start with. Considering less than a month has passed since the Surface 2 Pro was released it would seem that Microsoft has underestimated demand for the device.
All is not lost, though. Anyone looking to take a take a step in to the world of Surface can do so via the non-pro versions. Both the 32GB and 64GB versions of the Surface 2 are available to buy for $449 and $549. The same is true of the original Surface — the 32GB is available for $349, 64GB for $399, and the 64GB compete with a Touch Cover for $449.
