Surface Laptop 3, Book 3, and Pro 7 get new firmware updates

Microsoft has rolled out November 2020 firmware updates for its Intel-powered Surface Pro 7, Surface Book 3, and Surface Laptop 3 devices (via Neowin). More specifically, the Surface Book 3 firmware updates enhance audio performance, improve wireless communications, and resolve low brightness issues. You can get more details in the full release notes below:

  • Realtek High Definition Audio (SST) - Sound, video, and game controllers: 6.0.8936.1 Improves audio performance and resolves the associated system bugcheck.
  • Surface Integration – System devices: 22.27.139.0 Improves integration between system services
  • Surface Panel - Monitor: 3.101.139.0 Resolves low brightness issues and improves the device color profile performance.
  • Surface System Telemetry Driver: 2.29.137.0 Facilitates power and thermal related data analysis.
  • Intel(R) WiFi 6 AX201 160MHz - Network adapters: 21.110.3.2 Improves Wi-Fi stability.
  • Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth - Bluetooth: 21.110.0.3 Improves Bluetooth stability.

Furthermore, Surface Laptop 3 owners are also getting similar Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enhancements. In addition to that, the new batch specifically fixes the application crash issues during audio scenario, improves battery life, and more. You can check out the changelog below:

  • Surface Panel - Monitor: 4.28.139.0 Resolves low brightness issues and improves the device color profile performance.
  • Realtek Hardware Support Application - Software components: 11.0.6000.92 Resolves the application crash during audio scenario.
  • Realtek High Definition Audio (SST) - Sound, video, and game controllers: 6.0.8936.1 Improves audio performance and battery life.
  • Realtek High Definition Audio (SST) Extension - no Device Manager notes: 6.1.0.6 Improves integration between system services.

Lastly, the Surface Pro 7 is getting the aforementioned Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and display updates. Moreover, there are several additional enhancements for system stability and system telemetry reporting as well, and you can find them all below:

  • Surface System Aggregator – Firmware: 14.310.139.0 Improves system stability and system telemetry reporting.
  • Realtek Hardware Support Application - Software components: 11.0.6000.92 Improves audio performance while streaming content.
  • Realtek High Definition Audio (SST) - Sound, video, and game controllers: 6.0.8936.1 Improves audio performance and resolves the associated system bugcheck.
  • Realtek High Definition Audio (SST) Extension - no Device Manager notes: 6.1.0.6 Improves integration between system services.

As always, these bits are being rolled out in stages, which means you might not get them right away. In case you missed it, the AMD-powered Surface Laptop 3 models also received new firmware updates earlier this month, which fixed issues with audio performance and more.
